The Cycling and Society symposium series was launched in 2004 at Lancaster University. The symposia are linked to the Cycling and Society Research Group whose members span many disciplines and approaches to the study of cycling. The book ‘Cycling and Society‘ was published in 2007, reuniting some of the research presented during the first editions.
Since 2004 there have been annual Cycling and Society symposia around the UK.
The next Symposium will be on 7th and 8th September 2017 on the theme of #CitiesToShare, and will be held at Imperial College London. Please note that the symposium will no longer be held in Portsmouth as originally planned and that we are currently looking at alternative venues. Further details and the call for abstracts are available.
