The Cycling and Society symposium series was launched in 2004 at Lancaster University. The symposia are linked to the Cycling and Society Research Group whose members span many disciplines and approaches to the study of cycling. The book ‘Cycling and Society‘ was published in 2007, reuniting some of the research presented during the first editions.
Since 2004 there have been annual Cycling and Society symposia around the UK.
The last Symposium was on 6th and 7th September 2018, and was held at University of West England, Bristol, and organised by the Centre for Transport and Society. This was a joint event with Scientists for Cycling, the European research network hosted by the European Cyclists Federation (ECF).

We will announce shortly where will be held the 2019 C8S Symposium.
